Waka Mahi

Today for our mahi we got put into groups with the year 8,7,6, and 4's. The people in my group was Te Paea, Pippin, Mana and Eva. The other groups had to find out stuff about the other waka but my group had to find out about the fleet which is the 7 different waka. For the first 2 blocks we had to research about the 7 waka and at the end of the second block we started making a sheet of all the research we found and had to add a border with Maori patterns as well as pictures of waka.

The Great Explorer, Tupaia

Today we learnt about Tupaia who is a Maori voyager that also went on the HM Endeavour. We also had to compare Tupaia to James Cook. I learnt that Tupaia was more likely# to have been here before Cook and that Tupaia also brought and helped Cook to get to Aotearoa.

Below is the slide I made and recorded all the information that I found.

Biography - Stan Walker

For our writing, we've been given to choose a range of different Maori people to do a biography about. I chose Stan Walker. I've found out a whole ton of new things I didn't know about him. I learnt that he had a hard time within his childhood. I also learnt that he's gotten most of his music inspiration off Beyonce and that most of the songs he's written are actually about his stories, tunes, melodies, words and him.

Reading

Yesterday for reading we were given a task to do a ven diagram and to re tell the Kai Tahu story and original story of how the world formed by Papatuanuku, Ranginui and their children. For me, it was quite fun because I know that story off by heart and I love using ven diagrams.
Do you know how to use a ven diagram?

Panui

Today for panui, we read "Rangiriri - And The Maori King" (Te Kingitanga)
It's about Wiremu Tamihana. We had to search facts for his early years, Christianity, a Maori king, Te Wherowhero, Gore Browne and the settlers.
Wiremu was born in Tamahere near Cambridge around 1804. The name he was given was Tarapipipi Te Waharoa but he was given a new name when he became a Christian as a young man, his new name give was Wiremu Tamihana.

Below is the work I've completed.

Maths

Today in pangarau, we were working on division. Whaea Jas wrote down 10 questions, we then had to use reversibility to solve the problems.

Mailli and I finished our division so we got given another task to do with doing times tables.

Below is the work I achieved.
