Family recount

In the holidays my family and I went to Okains Bay for three days.
Saturday,Sunday and Monday. We left on Saturday morning at 11:15 but Mum,Amiria, and I had to deliver the circulars first.
When we were driving over the hills Jaxon kept hitting and kicking me + non stop talking (rolling eyes).

Finally we arrived at Okains Bay and I could feel the fresh cool breeze flutter onto my face, it was so hot in the car that the windows were all steaming up. I felt so relieved when I stepped out of the hot steaming car.
After we had set a few things up Mum had taken Jaxon to get our camp number but while they were there, there was a free table of things. Mum had taken the free tent that was there and helped put it up with Amiria and I after they had gotten back.

Dad and Jaxon went for a ride on the bike track and stopped at the flying fox for a bit. They had came back an hour later. After they came back Dad started cooking dinner on our BBQ. While he was cooking dinner I could smell the cold sausages heating up and the potato salad with delicious aioli and potatoes.
Finally the dinner was ready so Amiria and I had to set the table. Afterwards when the food had gotten onto the table I had put it on my plate and ate the warm sausages and sweet potato salad.
After dinner Jaxon had to go to bed (which still wasn’t made).

It had turned 9:00pm and Mum, Dad, Amiria, and I started to get sleepy so we all got ready for bed and brought everything that was outside into the caravan awning.

Finally we all had peacefully gone to sleep.

During Kaupapa Matua I've been outside experiencing birds around School and the Travis Wetlands.
Recently we've been working on how to track predators such as mice, rats and more.
I learnt the difference between a mouse and a rat.
Throughout the past three weeks I've learnt a lot of things like what birds are native and what birds were introduced to New Zealand.

Last week we learnt about the Maori creation story. We then made our own comic strip for re-telling this story.
This is what we said in our Maori creation story.

In the beginning there was Ranginui the sky father and Papatuanuku the earth mother.

Papatuanuku and Ranginui had six chirldren. Tumatauenga, Tane Mahuta, Rongomatane, Haumia tike-tike, Tangaroa, and Tawhirimatea.

The children didn't like the dark and it was to cramped. They decided to try seperate thier parents.

Tangaroa and Tumatauenga tried to push thier parents apart but they had no luck.

Tane-Mahuta decided to lay on his back and push his parents apart.

Tane Mahuta cloaked his father in clouds, the sun, the moon, and the stars. He also cloaked his mother in flowers, fern, and bushes. Tane Mahuta then became the god of forests. Tumatauenga, god of war and man.

Haumia tike-tike became the god of uncaultivated food, thangaroa now god of the sea, Rongomatane now the god of peace, and Tawhirimatpeople say when it rains it's Ranginui crying for his lost love.

It was hard to make this comic story because we had to match the pictures and the words together witch was quite hard.
We're proud of this because it looks good even though it took some time but at least we didn't rush it.

Camp at Waipara

Nearly every year 5 & 6 went to Waipara camp.

We left school around 9:10 - 9:30am and arrived at Waipara around around 10:15 - 10:30am. When we got there I was excited as someone on a sugar high. As soon as we settled down a bit we had morning tea.  After that we all got to go into our cabins and make our beds.

Later we got into groups and they were the groups we did activities with.  There were 8 groups and I was in group 5. First group 5 did bridge building after that we had archery, I loved it so much.  I got 4 arrows in the foam target.

After archery we went to go eat lunch.  Our next activity we had raft building, I made a raft with Kahu, Keira, and Alexa. Alexa didn't get on the raft until towards the end because she was a bit to scared to get on the raft at the start. Before we had to pack up Kahu, Keira, and I went into the middle of the river where all the other rafts were and kept jumping off our raft.

Our last activity was the Confidence course. It was a bit hard at the start but at the end I had the hang of it.

At 5:00pm we had finished the activities for the day and got to have free time until 6:00 (dinner time)

It finally had turned dinner time and I got to catch up with all of my other friends from the other groups.

After dinner we had dessert, then shower's. We got into our pyjamas's and had supper (only if we wanted it).

We had 30 mins to get ready for bed and then lights out at 9:30.
I was sharing a cabin with Kahukura, Kymaiara, Mailli, Alexa, and Naquita. I didn't get to sleep until around 12:00 because Alexa was crying (she gets homesick).

*The night had passed and into the next day/morning*

I woke up just Naquita and Alexa were going to slap me to wake me up (it doesn't hurt don't hurt).

It was finally breakfast time, I was craving for food so much I was as excited as a bull running.

I would love to go back to Waipara camp again.
