Sumner Surf

Last Tuesday morning a group of us in tangaroa went surfing in Sumner. We had to be at kura at 8:15 and then we left at 8:30. The drive took basically half an hour because we got to Sumner beach at 9. When we got there we had to get changed into our togs and wet suits but me and Lily took a while because the wet suit I had didn't fit me, I tried to put it on but it took like 15-20 minutes. Finally we got out of the changing room and walked down to where everyone else was and Mr Redmond was walking towards us. The people that was running it for us had extra wet suits we could use so i used one of theirs. We all got handed surfboards that was theirs. they also taught us some things we can use while we were surfing and how to stand on the board properly. After that we got to go in the water, a small group of us paddled out to the back and tried catching the waves. The waves were quite good but it was also quite calm. Me and Lily brought some chips after like and hour of surfing and had some food from our lunch boxes. At the end there was a competition/game where we had to do a coffin which is when you lay on your back and cross your arms over your chest, I forgot the other ones. I didn't do the comp but it looked really fun.

I would recommend going if you're year 7 or 8 next year.

T-shirt Graph

This is a graph of how many coloured shirts are in my draw and the amount of each colour. In Sharon's math group we've been working with graphs. There's been people asking "how many pets do you have" and things like that. I decided to do a graph of how many shirts I have in my draws.
We learnt about what a y axis and a axis is. The y axis is the line that is going from the bottom to the top of the graph and the axis is the line going left to right on the bottom.

Town

On Monday half of the kura went into town. The year 8s in my class went to Victoria Square. We had a sheet with things to do and find out. I learnt what weeping willows were named from and who brought them. Another activity on the paper was to try re-draw a pou that's there. After we did the stuff on the paper, we got to eat the lunches that Paul brought and the other schools came after too. My class lined up after we ate and walked round to the town hall to watch the Tumahana show. It was about takaroa, rakinui, papatuanuku, and their children.

Making Graphs

 Making Graphs

This week we have been learning how to make graphs. I made a graph about my math test scores.
